Our Kindergarten

3-5 years old

Welcome to the Kookaburra Room.

We are proud to offer an indoor/outdoor program that includes access to our own playground, as well as the alfresco area that we use for messy play. In the Kookaburra room, our focus is on preparing children for kindergarten by providing experiences and activities that both support and challenge their thinking, while expanding their skills and knowledge. Our approach is centered around play-based learning, which encourages children to develop their learning and inquiry skills through a combination of child-led and teacher-initiated opportunities.

As children form connections with family, peers, educators, community, culture, and places, they are guided to Belong, Be, and Become. This process allows them to make sense of the world around them and discover their own identity.

We strive to create an inclusive environment where all children are supported by  to become confident and engaged learners. We engage with the local  community through walks, visits to the local shopping strip, the fire station, the train station, and of course, the park.

Our program is designed to help children develop personal hygiene and self-help skills, assist with toilet training, promote social and emotional well-being, build resilience, foster peer relationships, enhance problem-solving abilities, support cognitive development, improve gross and fine motor skills, promote literacy and numeracy development, encourage imaginative exploration and discovery, and introduce mindfulness practices, among other things.

Alesha, Our Room Leader

A child’s life is full of wonder and excitement. As an Early Childhood Educator, I believe that learning through play is an essential part of each child’s life as it encourages their ability to develop their creativity and imagination. Every child is truly unique as they each bring different abilities and experiences that they can share with other children and educators. My role as an Early Childhood Educator gives me the opportunity to be a role model to all children. This allows me to set a positive example and create a meaningful bond between myself and those around me. Music has always been a big part of my life, so I love singing songs with the children and listening to them join in. Watching them grow and participate fills me with so much joy and is a big part of why I love working in childcare.
